The NSW Liberals and Nationals have said that if they win the next election they will privatise the NSW electricity network – public assets you would be familiar with like Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy and TransGrid.
Premier Mike Baird has said they will sell the states most valuable income generating asset, which currently returns $1.7 billion every year to pay for nurses and teachers, for a one off cash splash of $13 billion. This money will be used to benefit a select few people in NSW with new roads, sports stadiums and a second harbour rail crossing – the thing is we know these promises will never be delivered.
Since coming to office the Liberals and Nationals have sold off more than $5 billion worth of NSW public assets like our Ports, Power Stations, Desalination Plant, Sydney Ferries and Public Buildings and Land. But what do we have to show for this? Where has all the money gone? Nothing has been build but the public has been left paying more for fewer services.
The simple point is essential services like electricity and water should never be privatised.
You can do something to stop this. Sign the online petition here and stand up for what we have left.
